Best SUVs You Can Buy This Year

Like the past few years, we expect that SUVs will be extremely popular this year too. Here are the best options across segments.

Subcompact SUVs

Subaru Crosstrek: The Crosstrek is a practical, rugged, and comfortable SUV. It has good ground clearance that helps with off-roading, and there’s even a more powerful engine option available.

Kia Soul: This is a value-packed, spacious, zippy, and bold-looking SUV. It has a lovely and easy-to-use infotainment system that’s just one of its many talents. No AWD option is available.

Kia Seltos: This bold-looking SUV has fun driving manners and a spacious and versatile interior. However, the material quality could be better.

Compact SUVs

Honda CR-V: This well-rounded SUV is a perennial favorite thanks to excellent safety ratings, good value ratings, good reliability, decent driving dynamics, and comfort.

Mazda CX-5: This SUV has excellent driving dynamics, stunning design, great safety scores, and premium interiors. It’s hard to find anything wrong with it.

Subaru Forester: The Forester’s engine and transmission will now wow you. But its spacious interior, comfortable ride, excellent efficiency, strong value rating, and standard AWD will.

Midsize SUVs

Subaru Outback: It may look like last year’s model, but it’s better than ever. The Outback is practical, efficient, and very comfortable. It gets high safety scores and offers terrific value.

Toyota Venza: This midsize SUV has fresh styling, advanced tech, premium interiors, and a hybrid powertrain. It’s not the biggest, but it is one of the best in its segment.

Ford Edge: Fords are fun, and the peppy engine in the Edge proves it. It also has decent interior space and updated tech. Its overall value rating is low.

3-Row SUVs

Kia Telluride: This three-row SUV offers a refined driving experience, a long list of intuitive tech features, and excellent design. You’ll find it on a lot of lists at the top of its class.

Subaru Ascent: This three-row SUV offers a torquey turbocharged engine, a smooth ride, and a lot of standard safety tech. What makes it better are good fuel economy and strong safety ratings.

Hyundai Palisade: This SUV features a spacious interior and strong safety ratings. The ride is a little stiff.
